Frequently Asked Questions

How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?

Subtract the earlier date from the later date. In calendar math: count each day from (and not including) the start date up to and including the end date. For example, from January 1 to January 31 is 30 days (not 31). This calculator uses the standard convention of not counting the start date. For business days, it additionally excludes Saturdays and Sundays from the count.

How many days until a specific date?

Set your Start Date to today and your End Date to the target date. The calculator will show the total number of days, weeks, and business days remaining. For example: if today is June 7 and your event is December 25, the calculator shows exactly how many days, weeks, and weekdays until Christmas.

What is the difference between calendar days and business days?

Calendar days count all 7 days of the week — Monday through Sunday. Business days (also called working days) exclude weekends (Saturday and Sunday) and sometimes public holidays. This calculator counts calendar days and business days (Mon–Fri only). Public holidays vary by country, state, and employer, so they are not included in the business day count — subtract known holidays manually.

How do I add months to a date?

Switch to 'Add to Date' mode, enter your base date, set the months field to the number you want to add, and leave other fields at 0. The calculator returns the exact result date. Important: adding months accounts for variable month lengths — adding 1 month to January 31 gives February 28 (or 29 in a leap year), not March 2. The calculator handles this automatically.

How many weeks in a year?

A standard year has 52 weeks and 1 day (365 days ÷ 7 = 52.142 weeks). A leap year has 52 weeks and 2 days. For practical purposes: 52 weeks per year. Biweekly paychecks result in 26 pay periods per year (except in years with 3 paycheck months). If you're calculating work anniversaries, vacation accrual, or contract end dates, use this date calculator to get the exact day count.

How do I calculate how many days until a deadline or event?

Set your Start Date to today's date and your End Date to the deadline. The result shows total days remaining, weeks remaining, and business days remaining. For project planning, business days (Mon–Fri) are often more meaningful than calendar days. If your deadline is December 31 and today is June 7, the calculator immediately shows 207 days, 29 weeks, and approximately 148 business days. For recurring deadlines (quarterly taxes, annual renewals), the 'Add to Date' mode lets you add exactly 3, 6, or 12 months to find the next due date.

What is the difference between 30 days and 1 month?

30 days is exactly 30 days. 1 month varies: January has 31 days, February has 28 (or 29 in leap years), and most months have 30 or 31. Adding 1 month to January 31 gives February 28 — not March 2. This distinction matters for contracts, subscriptions, and legal deadlines that specify 'within 30 days' vs. 'within one month.' This calculator's 'Add to Date' mode handles variable month lengths correctly — choose months for calendar-based deadlines and days for exact-count deadlines.

How do I calculate someone's age in days, weeks, or years?

Enter the birthdate as your Start Date and today as your End Date. The calculator shows the exact age in years, months, and days, plus total days and weeks lived. For example: born March 15, 1990 — as of June 7, 2026, that's 36 years, 2 months, and 23 days, or 13,232 total days. This is useful for age verification, medical calculations, retirement planning, and milestone tracking. The same method works for calculating the age of anything with a known start date.
